Ottawa Police seek help identifying suspect in assault on taxi driver and theft of money
The incident occurred in the Meadowlands Drive area in late June.. and the police have released descriptions of the suspect and are urging witnesses to provide information

Ottawa Police are seeking the public's help in identifying a man suspected of being involved in an assault and robbery incident targeting a taxi driver in the Meadowlands Drive area in late June.
The incident occurred on Friday, June 19, around 3 p.m., after the taxi driver received a request to pick up a passenger from building number 1100 on Meadowlands Drive.
Upon the driver's arrival at the location, he was assaulted by an unknown passenger before the suspect entered the taxi and stole a sum of cash, then fled the area shortly after.
The police described the suspect as a man in his late twenties or early thirties, weighing between 190 and 200 pounds, with dark hair tied in a short ponytail and a short dark beard.
At the time of the incident, he was wearing a white shirt, dark pants, and white Adidas sneakers. He was also carrying a black backpack and a blue reusable shopping bag.
The Ottawa Police Theft Unit urged anyone with information that could help identify or locate the suspect to contact them at 613-236-1222, extension 5116, or via email at robbery@ottawapolice.ca.
The investigation is ongoing, and the police have not announced any arrests in the case so far.
