The government of Canada announced new humanitarian aid to Lebanon worth nearly 38 million Canadian dollars to support civilians affected by the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
The announcement was made during a press conference attended by Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand alongside Minister of State for International Development Randeep Sarai, with the presence of Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Lena Metlege Diab and MP Fayçal El‑Khoury.
The Canadian government stated that the aid aims to provide food, potable water, healthcare, medical services, and shelter for those affected by the hostilities, amid increasing numbers of displaced persons and worsening humanitarian needs in the country.
It explained that the recent fighting led to widespread mass displacement, market disruptions, and rising levels of food insecurity, creating urgent needs for civilians in many Lebanese areas.
The government also pointed out that the recent hostilities significantly impacted the health sector, with ambulances and medical workers being targeted, in addition to damage to medical facilities and the closure of hospitals and primary care centers due to evacuation orders or deteriorating security conditions.
Funding will be directed through international humanitarian partners including UN agencies and humanitarian organizations such as the Red Cross and NGOs to ensure aid reaches the most affected groups.
Canada called on all parties to the conflict to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure and to work towards de-escalation, affirming its support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Ottawa also emphasized that achieving lasting stability on the Lebanese-Israeli border requires strengthening the authority of the Lebanese state and disarming armed groups to allow displaced persons to safely return to their homes.

Estimates indicate that hundreds of thousands of Lebanese have been displaced from their homes due to the fighting, while the Canadian government continues to monitor the humanitarian situation in the country and coordinate with its international partners to assess needs and provide necessary support.
