Sweden thrashes Tunisia 5-0 and tops Group F in the World Cup
Yassine Ayari opens and closes the scoring in a harsh Swedish night for the Tunisian national team

The Sweden national team achieved a wide victory over the Tunisia national team with a score of 5-1, in the match that brought them together on Monday morning at the Monterrey stadium in Mexico, as part of the Group F competitions of the 2026 World Cup.
The Swedish team entered the match strongly and succeeded in imposing its rhythm early after Yassin Al-Ayari, of Tunisian origin, opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a powerful shot. Alexander Isak added the second goal in the 30th minute, before Omar Rekik reduced the difference for Tunisia in the 43rd minute.
In the second half, the defensive organization of the Tunisian team collapsed under Swedish pressure, with Viktor Gyökeres scoring the third goal in the 59th minute, then Mattias Svanberg added the fourth goal in the 84th minute, before Al-Ayari returned to conclude the fifth in the 95th minute.
With this victory, Sweden earned its first three points in its tournament journey, topping Group F, benefiting from the 2-2 draw between the Netherlands and Japan in the other match.
Sweden will meet the Netherlands in the second round on Saturday, June 20, while the Tunisia national team will face Japan on Sunday, June 21, in a match that will be decisive in trying to revive its hopes of competing for a qualification spot.
