Toronto —
The Canadian national team achieved its first point in history at the FIFA World Cup, after drawing with the Bosnia and Herzegovina team 1-1, in the opening matches of Group B of the 2026 World Cup.
The Bosnian team took the lead first through Džovo Lukić in the 21st minute, before Kyle Larin succeeded in equalizing for Canada in the 78th minute, amid great interaction from the fans present at the Toronto stadium.
The result carries historical value for the Canadian team, which had lost all its six matches in its two previous World Cup participations in 1986 and 2022.
With this draw, both Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina earned their first point in Group B, which also includes Qatar and Switzerland.
The Canadian team will play its next match against Qatar in the second round, while Switzerland will meet Bosnia and Herzegovina in the same round.
