Niagara Regional Police are searching for a man and a woman suspected of being involved in a shooting that claimed the life of a person inside a home in Niagara Falls on Thursday evening.
Police received a report around 8:50 p.m. of a man shot inside a home on Thorold Stone Road, near Dorchester Road.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim with gunshot wounds before paramedics transported him to the hospital, where he died shortly after from his injuries.
Preliminary investigation results showed that the suspects came to the home and fired at the victim using a handgun, then left the scene in a car parked nearby.
Police believe the incident was targeted but urged residents to be cautious, as the suspects and the weapon used are still at large.
The first suspect was described as a man between 25 and 35 years old, about five feet six inches tall, slim build, and dark-skinned.
He was wearing a white shirt, dark pants and shoes, along with sunglasses and a red headband.
The second suspect was described as a woman between 18 and 25 years old, with dark brown hair and brown eyes.
She was wearing loose blue sweatpants, a gray hooded jacket, and white shoes.
Police said the suspects fled in a modern white Nissan SUV, possibly similar to a Rogue model.
Homicide investigators took over the investigation, and police urged businesses and homes near the intersection of Thorold Stone and Dorchester roads to review their surveillance camera footage.
Investigators asked residents to contact them if they spot two people or a vehicle matching the descriptions provided, warning against approaching or confronting the suspects.
Police also urged the suspects to consult a lawyer and surrender themselves, confirming that the investigation is still in its early stages and more information will be released when available.
Authorities have not yet revealed the identity of the victim or the possible relationship with the suspects, nor have they announced a motive for the shooting.
