The US Department of War releases a new batch of photos and files of unidentified aerial phenomena

Published: May 22, 2026

Washington —
The U.S. Department of Defense has released a new batch of photos and files related to what is known as "unidentified aerial phenomena," as part of a broad government program aimed at gradually declassifying documents and reports that have remained hidden for decades.

The published materials included photos, video clips, intelligence reports, and observation records dating back to different time periods, some of which relate to mysterious objects or lights seen near military installations or in airspace under tight security surveillance.

The documents also included accounts from pilots and military personnel, as well as field testimonies about sightings described as inconclusive based on the available data.

The department confirmed that the published files concern "unresolved" cases, meaning that the relevant authorities were unable to definitively determine the nature of the phenomena, whether related to known objects or other technical or natural explanations.

This step comes as part of a broader project launched by the administration of President Donald Trump under the name "PURSUE," which aims to collect, review, and declassify files on unidentified aerial phenomena held by various U.S. institutions.

According to the department, the file review process includes millions of documents spanning decades, with plans to release additional batches in the coming weeks.

The new batch includes more than 50 video clips and additional documents related to sightings in various areas, including reports of "luminous bodies" and objects moving in unusual ways near U.S. military installations.

Despite the widespread buzz generated by the files, U.S. authorities emphasized that releasing these materials does not constitute evidence of extraterrestrial beings or non-human technology, but rather reflects a trend toward transparency and making information available to the public.

Officials also clarified that many cases may remain unresolved due to lack of data, poor image quality, or insufficient technical information to analyze the incidents conclusively.

The increased interest in this file comes after years of debate within the United States about unidentified flying objects, especially following testimonies from military pilots and reports of sightings of objects moving at unusual speeds or patterns.

In recent years, the file has shifted from being associated with conspiracy theories and popular culture to a topic discussed within U.S. military and intelligence institutions under the term "unidentified aerial phenomena" or UAP.

As the documents continue to be released, it appears that Washington is trying to strike a balance between responding to popular and political pressures demanding transparency, and avoiding drawing conclusions that are not scientifically or intelligence-supported regarding the nature of these phenomena.
