Saudi Arabia launches a package of logistical facilities to support Gulf countries under the current circumstances
Measures include exemptions, border facilitation, and strengthening regional supply chains
Published: March 26, 2026
Saudi Arabia announced a new package of logistical decisions aimed at supporting trade movement and supply chains between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, amid current regional challenges affecting transportation and supply flows.
The measures included exempting Gulf imports and exports from storage fees for up to 60 days, in a step aimed at reducing operational burdens on companies and enhancing the smooth flow of goods through ports.
It was also decided to allow trucks designated for transporting goods, including refrigerated trucks, to enter the Kingdom empty, provided they are used to transport shipments directed to Gulf countries, which contributes to speeding up transportation operations and reducing waiting times at the borders.
As part of supporting the land transport sector, the allowed operational age for trucks inside the Kingdom was raised to 22 years, with the decision including trucks coming from GCC countries, which enhances the operational capacity of logistics fleets in the region.
The Kingdom also announced the launch of an initiative to establish storage and redistribution areas dedicated to Gulf countries inside King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, aiming to organize container movement and allocate operational spaces for each country, which enhances regional distribution efficiency.
These measures reflect a trend to enhance Gulf economic integration and provide quick solutions to face the challenges imposed by geopolitical developments, by improving the logistical infrastructure and facilitating trade movement between the countries of the region.
