A 3-1 defeat ends Al-Annabi's journey in Group B without a victory

Qatar loses to Bosnia and Herzegovina and exits the World Cup at the group stage

Seattle —
The Qatari national team bid farewell to the 2026 World Cup competitions at the group stage, after losing to the Bosnia and Herzegovina team 3-1 in the final match of Group B.

The loss confirmed the early end of the "Al-Annabi" journey in the tournament, after failing to achieve any victory during the first round, settling for one point earned from their opening draw against Switzerland, before suffering two consecutive losses against Canada and then Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Bosnian team imposed its superiority during the match and succeeded in capitalizing on the opportunities available to secure the match with three goals, while the Qatari team was unable to come back despite scoring a goal that narrowed the gap.

The Qatari team suffered during the group stage from clear defensive fragility and a decline in offensive effectiveness, as their net conceded a large number of goals in their three matches, which complicated their task in competing for a qualification spot.

On the other hand, the Bosnia and Herzegovina team ended its participation with an important win, but it was not enough to advance from the group, after Switzerland and Canada secured the two qualification spots to the round of 32.

This participation opens the door for a comprehensive technical review within the Qatari team, after an early exit that did not meet the ambitions, especially given the large gap between the required performance in a tournament of this size and what the team presented on the field.
