Arrest of the most wanted criminal in Canada after a long chase following a deadly shooting in Toronto
Montreal police arrest main suspect in murder outside Yorkdale Shopping Centre
Published: March 5, 2026
The police in the city of Montreal announced the arrest of one of the most dangerous wanted individuals in Canada, accused of committing a murder during a shooting incident that took place outside the Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto last year.
The suspect, Brian Fuentes Gramajo, 24 years old, was arrested in the early hours of Thursday inside a neighborhood in Montreal, after months of nationwide security pursuit.
The shooting incident
The police accuse Gramajo of involvement in a shooting incident that occurred in July 2025 in the parking lot of the Yorkdale Shopping Centre, which resulted in the death of a 28-year-old man after being directly shot.
According to investigations, the suspect fled the scene immediately after the crime, leading to his later inclusion on the list of the most dangerous wanted individuals in the country.
At the top of the wanted list
Over the past months, Gramajo became the number one person on Canada’s most wanted list under the Dangerous Criminals Tracking Program, a program focused on tracking fugitives accused of serious violent crimes.
Ongoing investigation
After his arrest, the suspect was detained pending transfer to Toronto to face first-degree murder charges.
The police continue to investigate the case, confirming that another suspect remains wanted in connection with the incident, while authorities work to determine whether the crime is linked to criminal activities or conflicts between criminal groups.
