Firefighting teams implement an urgent reinforcement plan for the damaged facade amid a security investigation into the causes of the incident
Published: January 25, 2026
Ottawa fire teams intervened on Friday afternoon to secure and stabilize the TD Bank building in the Billings Bridge commercial complex, following a vehicle collision with the building that caused structural damage to its exterior facade.
Fire services reported that the incident occurred just before 4 p.m., when teams received a report from Ottawa Police stating that a vehicle had collided with one of the buildings in the area.
Upon arrival at the site, the teams confirmed structural damage to the bank's exterior wall after the vehicle penetrated a glass facade and entered through one of the windows. The teams immediately shut down the vehicle and secured the site.
Paramedics at the scene stated that another person reported their car was hit by the same vehicle before it rushed into the building.
Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Structural Concerns and Reinforcement Plan
According to the fire teams, the initial inspection revealed significant damage that raised concerns about the structural safety of the building. Consequently, the structural collapse team took charge of developing and implementing an urgent reinforcement plan to support the brick wall facade that was breached.
Response teams reported that no damage was recorded to the electrical installations, but the building management was informed that the sprinkler system in the exterior part was exposed to freezing temperatures.
The fire teams left the site shortly after 6 p.m., while Ottawa Police confirmed that they continue to investigate the causes of the incident.
