Canadian Food Inspection Agency expands recall list and urges consumers to check products immediately

More pistachio-containing products are being withdrawn from the markets due to salmonella concerns

Published: August 31, 2025

Ottawa — The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) announced the expansion of the list of products subject to recalls due to increasing concerns about possible contamination with Salmonella bacteria, this time including products containing pistachios sold across the country.

The updated list includes candies, nut mixes, and snacks made with pistachios that may be contaminated. The agency indicated that investigations are still ongoing, and new products may be added to the recall list in the coming days.

Authorities warned that consuming foods contaminated with Salmonella can cause serious symptoms including fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps, and these symptoms may be more severe in children, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals.

Recommendations for consumers:

Check the batch number and expiration date on packages containing pistachios.
Do not consume recalled products, even if they appear to be intact.
Dispose of them immediately or return them to the stores where they were purchased for a refund.

CFIA confirmed that it is continuing to verify the safety of the supply chain and will publish any updates as new information becomes available
