Egypt turns their deficit against New Zealand into an exciting 3-1 victory in the World Cup

The Egyptian national team achieved an important victory over their New Zealand counterpart with a score of 3-1, in an exciting match within the second round of Group 7 in the 2026 World Cup.
The New Zealand team started the match strongly and succeeded in opening the scoring at the 15th minute through Finn Surman, who took advantage of a corner kick and headed it into the net amid Egyptian defensive confusion.
Despite the setback, the Egyptian team maintained its composure before coming back strongly in the second half and equalizing at the 58th minute through Mostafa Zizo, after a successful leap to a cross from Mohamed Hany, which he skillfully headed into the goal.
With the increase in the Egyptian pressure pace, Mohamed Salah managed to score the leading goal at the 67th minute with a powerful left-footed shot from inside the penalty area, benefiting from an assist provided by Zizo.
At the 82nd minute, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet decided the match with a third goal that came from a strong header after a corner kick executed perfectly by Salah, confirming the Pharaohs' superiority and granting them three valuable points.
With this victory, the Egyptian team raised its tally to four points, temporarily topping Group 7, while the New Zealand team remained at the bottom of the standings with no points.
