Toronto - It may be the third time for the acclaimed theatre director Rafi Jain, based in Toronto, who is a returning contender for the Siminovich Prize.

Jain was chosen on Thursday among four finalist competitors for the Canadian Theatre Prize worth $100,000, which honors directors this year as part of its three-year rotation to recognize contributions in various theatre fields.

The founding artistic director of "Why Not Theatre" in Toronto has been nominated twice before for the prize - in 2016 and 2019.

His competition includes Montreal actress, writer, and director Marie Brassard, whose surreal works have toured across Canada, Europe, and Japan.

Also in the race are Sherry Ji Yoon, artistic director of Boca del Lobo in Vancouver, and Halifax director, actress, and teacher Anne Marie Kerr. The winner, who will be announced on December 1, will receive $75,000 and will choose a protégé to receive $25,000.                                 Edited by: Yusra Bamtrif
