"Sincere and Engaging Memoirs" by Jada Pinkett Smith
Published: October 6, 2022
New York - Jada Pinkett Smith has lifelong ideas she would like to share. The actor, singer, entrepreneur, and co-host of the Facebook Watch show "Red Table Talk" has a deal for what she calls Day Street books "honest and compelling memoirs" covering "her complicated marriage to Will Smith," among other topics.
The book is currently untitled and is scheduled for release next fall. "Jada Pinkett Smith chronicles the lessons learned in the context of a difficult but exciting journey - a rollercoaster journey from the depths of suicidal depression to the heights of rediscovering identity and celebrating authentic feminine power."
As stated in Thursday's announcement by Day Street, a HarperCollins imprint. According to the announcement, Pinkett Smith will recount "her unconventional upbringing in Baltimore," her friendship with late rapper Tupac Shakur, her love story with Smith, and her experiences with motherhood. The publisher said: "In a crisis at age forty, Jada tells of the painful choices she had to make to redefine her life in every way." Pinkett Smith, 51, is known for films like "The Nutty Professor" and "Matrix Resurrections," as well as being candid about her battles with depression and alopecia, a source of comedian Chris Rock's infamous joke at this year's Oscars ceremony.
When the comedian likened her shaved head to Demi Moore’s look in "G.I. Jane," Will Smith - who released his bestselling memoir last year - shocked the world by moving from his front-row seat to the stage and slapping Rock.
Pinkett Smith spoke about the slap two months later, in an episode of "Red Table Talk," saying the incident prompted thousands to reach out to her with their own experiences with alopecia. She also said she hopes that these two smart and capable men will have the opportunity to heal, talk about it, and make amends.
