Ottawa —
Ottawa Police have opened an investigation into a false report incident targeting All Saints Catholic High School in Kanata on Tuesday morning, after a limited number of students and staff received an email containing a threat of violence.
The Ottawa Catholic School Board said the incident falls under what is known as “swatting,” a false and serious report aimed at triggering an emergency security response, confirming that students and staff were not in danger at any time.
The police responded to the school after receiving the information, before investigators determined that the threat was not credible and did not pose an actual danger.
Nevertheless, the school board confirmed that such incidents are taken seriously because they require emergency security coordination and can cause concern within the school community.
The police said their officers continue to investigate, noting that there will be an increased security presence inside and around the school as a precaution.
The authorities confirmed that there is no known threat targeting students, staff, or the school building.
