Death of a policeman and another person in an armed attack in Montreal
Police confirm neutralizing the suspect and injuring a second officer during a security intervention in the Cote de Nige neighborhood

Two people, including a police officer, were killed in an armed attack that took place in the Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood of Montreal, while another police officer was injured during the incident.
Montreal police said their officers responded to a report of an armed and dangerous person in the area, before the security intervention turned into a confrontation that resulted in the death of one police officer and another person.
Montreal Police Commissioner, Fadi Dager, confirmed that the suspect was neutralized, noting that the police seized the weapon used in the attack.
The motives of the incident or the full circumstances preceding the shooting are not yet clear, while investigation teams continue to collect evidence and listen to witnesses to determine the sequence of events.
Authorities had called on residents of the area to stay inside their homes, close doors, and avoid the vicinity of the incident until the site was fully secured.
The attack comes at a time when Montreal is experiencing a state of security alert, amid anticipation of further official details regarding the identities of the victims, the suspect, and the background of the incident.
