Canada: A Palestinian professor teaches students in Gaza remotely

Professor Ahmed Abu Shaban, a lecturer at York University in Toronto, Canada, continues to offer remote lessons to students in Gaza despite the great distance between them, in a scene that reflects his strong commitment to them. Abu Shaban lives in Canada after leaving Gaza in October 2023, following the Israeli attack on the strip. Despite his distance from his students, Abu Shaban feels guilty for being away from them, which has driven him to dedicate extra time to help Palestinian students whose lives are still threatened by war, in a significant challenge to the harsh conditions. Abu Shaban previously held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine at Al-Azhar University in Gaza, which was completely destroyed due to Israeli shelling.
