Canada Post suspends parcel deliveries to several EU countries due to new customs regulations
The temporary measure affects 12 European countries as new requirements for low-value shipments come into effect
Published: June 30, 2026
Ottawa —
Canada Post announced the suspension of accepting parcels sent to a number of European Union countries, due to new customs rules coming into effect at the beginning of July, imposing additional requirements on processing shipments entering the European market.
The suspension includes 12 countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal, and Spain.
The institution said the decision is temporary, and it is working on updating its systems and operational procedures to comply with the new rules and resume service to the affected countries.
The new European measures are related to low-value shipments, especially parcels not exceeding 150 euros in value, where customs authorities require more detailed and accurate data before goods enter the Union countries.
The suspension is expected to affect individuals, small businesses, and online stores that rely on Canada Post to send products, gifts, and commercial parcels to European markets.
Canada Post confirmed that services to EU countries not included in the suspension will continue normally, and customers are advised to check available destinations before sending any international parcel.
The decision comes at a time when European countries are tightening import rules and customs control on e-commerce and cross-border parcels, aiming to improve shipment tracking and ensure the collection of due fees and taxes.
