A Toronto police officer was shot during a shootout that took place in the north of the city, in an incident that prompted a wide security response and an immediate investigation by the relevant authorities.  

The police said the incident occurred while officers were dealing with a security situation, where a shootout broke out resulting in the injury of one police officer. The officer was taken to the hospital for treatment, and his injury was described as not life-threatening.  

Preliminary information indicated that a suspect was arrested in connection with the incident, while investigators continue to collect evidence and determine the full circumstances that led to the shooting.  

The case was referred to the oversight authorities responsible for investigating incidents involving the use of firearms by the police or injuries to individuals during security operations, according to the procedures in place in Ontario.
